- 2 cups all purpose flour (Maida)
- 2 tbsp curd (Dahi)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup warm milk for kneading the dough
- 2 tbsp ghee or any refined oil
- 5 tbsp Butter for garlic sauce
- 3 garlic cloves finely minced(if the cloves are small then take 6-7)
- 2 tbsp coriander finely chopped
- butter for smearing
- All purpose flour for rolling
Step 1: Add baking powder,sugar and salt in curd and mix well.
Step 2: Add curd mixture and oil to all purpose flour, knead into a soft dough using warm milk. Cover the dough and keep it aside for around 3-4 hours. Keep it in a warm place.
Step 3: Now we will make garlic sauce to smear on naan which will give naan a strong garlic flavor.Take a non stick pan and add 5 tbsp butter in it,when the butter is melted add finely minced garlic,saute it in low flame till garlic turns little brown and it leaves its flavor. Always keep the gas on low flame,otherwise the butter may burn.Then switch off the gas and add finely chopped coriander.This prevents coriander from burning and retaining its beautiful green color.This garlic sauce will be used to smear on naan when it is ready.Prepare this sauce just before you will start making naan.
Step 4: Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll out each portion of the dough into a small circle. Smear some butter on top and then fold it in semi circle form then again smear some butter on top of folded semi circle and fold it in form of triangle. Now roll it in triangle shape or you can make it round using all purpose flour. Naan should neither be very thin nor thick.
Step 5: Heat a tava and when tava is hot enough then place the naan gently over it.Cook it till small blisters appear on the surface. Turn over the naan and cook for few more seconds.
Step 6: Cook it on an open flame till it puffs up and brown spots appear on both the sides. Smear the garlic sauce prepared in step 3 nicely. Prepare more naan’s out of the remaining portion of dough. Super delicious garlic naan is ready,serve it with paneer butter masala,vegetable jalfrezi,palak paneer,kadhai paneer,chana masala or any curry of your choice. Enjoy !!
