Servings: 1 loaf serves 4-5
Cooking Time: 50 minutes
- 2 cups all purpose flour (maida)
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2/3 cup plain yogurt (curd)(dahi)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp cocoa powder
- 4 tbsp hot water
- Oil or cooking spray for greasing the pan
- 1 tbsp all purpose flour for dusting the pan (maida)
In a deep bowl sieve together all purpose flour,baking powder,baking soda and salt and keep it aside.Our dry ingredients are ready.
In another bowl take 4 tbsp hot water and add 4 tbsp cocoa powder in it.Mix it nicely so that there is no lumps in it and keep it aside.
Take yogurt in a deep bowl. Yogurt should be at room temperature. Add sugar in it and
whisk it till yogurt and sugar is nicely mixed together.It takes around 5 minutes. You can also use electric mixer and whisk it in high speed for around 2-3 minutes.
Now add in oil and vanilla extract.Whisk it again till you get creamy texture.It takes around 5-6 minutes.In electric mixer whisk it in high speed for 3-4 minutes.Our Wet ingredients is ready.Now we will mix dry ingredients with the wet ingredients.
Take 2/3 cup of milk,it should be at room temperature. Now add the flour mixture and milk to the batter alternately.Gently mix the dry ingredients, do not over mix it.
Vanilla cake batter is ready.
Take out 1/3rd of the vanilla batter in another bowl,
and add the cocoa mixture in it. Mix it nicely with the batter. Our chocolate batter is also ready.
Take a 9*5 inch loaf pan and grease it nicely with oil or cooking spray.Then dust it with the flour.
Now pour around 1/3rd of vanilla batter into the loaf pan and then put dollops of chocolate batter on it.
With the help of a skewer or knife makes swirls in it.
Repeat the procedure till all the batter is used up.Make swirls with the help of skewer or knife.Take care to go all the way down to the pan while making swirls but do not over do the marbling. Pre heat oven for about 10 minutes at 180 degree celsius or 350 degree fahrenheit.
Now our cake is ready to be baked.Tap the pan little bit.We tap the cake pan after pouring the batter so that if there is any air bubbles in the batter,it will escape.Now bake the cake for about 30-40 minutes. After 30 minutes check the cake by inserting a clean knife or tooth pick at multiple places and if it comes out clean this means cake has been baked properly.It not then bake it for 5-7 minutes more and then check it again.When cake is baked properly, take it out the from the oven safely and let it cool for about 10 mins in the pan and then unmould it on the wire rack and let it cool completely.
Super delicious marble cake is ready to be enjoyed with your friends and family.
