Servings: 6 paratha
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Ingredients:
For Sattu filling-
- 3/4th cup sattu
- 3-4 green chillies finely chopped (you can adjust it according to taste)
- 1/4 cup onion/1 small onion/half big onion (finely chopped)
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp coriander finely chopped
- Water as required
For Dough
- 1.5 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp salt (optional)
- Water for kneading the dough
- 2 tbsp wheat flour for rolling
- Ghee/Oil for smearing and cooking paratha
Procedure:
Step 1: Combine the flour, 1 tbsp of oil and salt in a bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Cover and keep it aside for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 2: Meanwhile we will prepare sattu filling for the paratha. Combine sattu, onion, green chilies, salt, red chilli powder, coriander in a bowl and mix nicely. Then add little bit of water and mix it again. The filling should not be like a dough or completely combined. We should add only that much water which will give the filling crumbly texture. When you will attain the crumbly texture (little bit combined) of the filling then give it a taste and adjust the spices accordingly. The spice level should be little high as it goes inside the paratha then it automatically becomes little subtle.
Step 3: Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll out each portion of the dough into a small circle.Smear some ghee on top and place a spoon full of sattu filling in the center of the circle.Bring together all the sides in the center and seal tightly. Roll again into a circle using little flour.
Step 4: Heat a tava and when it is hot place the paratha gently over it.Cook until brown spots appear on one side of paratha then flip the paratha and cook it on the other side.
Step 5: Now cook the paratha from both the side by applying ghee till it is golden brown in color.Hot and tasty paratha is ready.Serve it with curd or any curry of your choice. Enjoy !!
