Serving: 20 pinwheels
Cooking Time: 1 hr
- 1 puff pastry sheet
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tbsp finely chopped green chillies (you can adjust it according to taste)
- 2 medium sized potato boiled
- 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
- 1/2 cup carrot finely chopped
- 1/4 cup beans finely chopped
- 1/4 cup sweet corn
- salt to taste
- 2 tsp red chili powder (you can adjust it according to taste)
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp wheat flour for rolling the puff pastry sheet.
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Step 1: First of all take out puff pastry sheet from the freezer and keep it aside so that it can come to room temperature or to a temperature in which it is easy to handle. It takes around 30 minutes, and in the meanwhile we will prepare veggie masala for the pinwheels.
Step 2: Take oil in a kadhai and when oil is hot enough then add ginger garlic paste and green chillies. Saute it for about a minute. Then add onion and Stir nicely.Saute for about a minute.
Step 3: Add carrots.beans and sweet corn, give a good stir. Now add salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, cumin powder and garam masala. Mix nicely all the spices in the veggies. Cook on medium heat till all the veggies are soft and tender. This takes around 5-7 minutes.
Step 4: Mash the boiled potatoes nicely and add to the veggie mixture.Mix very nicely. Then cook more for about 5-7 minutes. Now turn of the heat and let the mixture cool a little bit.
Step 5: When the puff pastry sheet has come down to room temperature then take it on a clean dry surface and then sprinkle some wheat flour on the surface and roll it with the help rolling pin.Do not roll it very thin.Roll the sheet a little big.Roll equally so that you can get equal sized pinwheels.
Step 6: When the sheet is rolled properly then brush it nicely with melted butter. Then spread the whole mixture completely and evenly on the full sheet.
Step 7: Now start rolling the sheet from one end,do it very carefully and slowly. When you have rolled the whole sheet properly then pinch the ends with your finger tips to seal the edges. You can also use a little water to seal the edges. It will look like a log.See the picture below:
Step 8: Now pick this roll carefully and place it on plate and keep it in freezer for 10 minutes. We do it so that the roll becomes little tight and it is easy to cut them and it also comes out more crispy and flaky.
Step 9: After 10 minutes take out the roll from the freezer and put it on clean dry surface.Sprinkle some flour on the surface so that roll do not stick to the surface. Now with a really sharp knife cut into pinwheels around 1″ thick.Around 20 pieces will come out.If you want little thick pinwheels then cut it little thick but do not make it more thin otherwise it will not look good.
Step 10: Then place it on a greased baking tray lined with parchment paper or aluminium foil.Arrange it nicely and the bake it on 400 degree fahrenheit or 200 degree celsius for about 20 minutes or till it is golden brown in color. When baked properly then take it out and serve with any sauce of your choice. It is also a good tiffin item. You can make it ahead of time.Enjoy !!
