Roti ( Fhulka or Chapati)

Servings: 8 Rotis

Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt (optional)
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour for rolling
  • Water for kneading the dough
  • Ghee for smearing

Procedure:

Step 1: Combine the flour, 1 tbsp of oil and salt in a bowl and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Cover and keep it aside for 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 2: Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll out each portion of the dough into a thin circle using a little whole wheat flour for rolling.

Step 3: Heat a tava and when tava is hot enough then place the roti gently over it.Cook it till small eruptions appear on the surface. Turn over the roti and cook for few more seconds.

Step 4: Cook it on an open flame till it puffs up and brown spots appear on both the sides.Prepare more rotis out of the remaining portion of dough.Smear ghee on top and serve it with any curry of your choice. Enjoy !!
