Chocolate Chips Vanilla Sheet Cake

Servings: 1 pound cake,serves 4-5

Cooking Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup curd/yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour/maida
  • 1 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • Rainbow sprinkles (optional)

Procedure:

Step 1: Take a deep bowl and combine curd,oil,sugar and vanilla extract and mix nicely.Mix until sugar is dissolved properly in the curd and the mixture is smooth in texture.

Step 2: Sieve all purpose flour,baking powder,baking soda and salt together.Now add the dry ingredients in the wet mixture in batches and mix nicely.The batter will be little thick and dense.If it is too thick and dense then add 2-3 tbsp milk in it.

Step 3: When the dry ingredients are mixed nicely with the wet mixture then add chocolate chips but reserve some to sprinkle on top of the cake and mix nicely.

Step 4: Pre heat oven for about 15 minutes at 180 degree celsius or 350 degree fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet or 9″ by 13″ pan (as this pan will be big enough for this much batter and you can get sheet cake easily)(I also used 9″ by 13″ baking dish to get this sheet cake) by greasing and dusting with flour nicely. Pour the batter in the tin and tap it well.We tap the tin after pouring the batter so that if there is any air bubbles in the batter,it will escape.Sprinkle rest of the chocolate chips and rainbow sprinkles on top of the cake.

Step 5: Now bake the cake for about 30-35 minutes. After 30 minutes check the cake by inserting a clean knife or tooth pick at multiple places and if it comes out clean this means cake has been baked properly.Take out the cake from the oven safely and let it cool for about 10 mins in the pan and then unmould it on the wire rack and let it cool completely. Then you can cut it and serve with hot tea or coffee as it is or you can use it for multiple deserts as per your liking. This cake is good for 4-5 days.Enjoy !!

Handy Tip:

1) You can also try this cake by making just half of the batter.Just take half the quantity of all the ingredients and you can make it in any regular cake pan.

2) If Chocolate chips is not available,then also you can make this cake without chocolate chips.Then you can name it as vanilla cake. You can also add some cherries or nuts if it is available. Isn’t it so simple.
