Cooking Time: 30 minutes
- 1 cup chopped bottle gourd(lauki)
- 1/2 cup soaked chana daal for about 15 min
- 1 tomato chopped
- 3-4 green chilies (you can adjust it according to your taste)
- 1 inch ginger (grated)
- 2 tbsp refined oil.
- 2 dried whole red chilies
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Red chili powder to taste
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped for garnishing.
Step 1: This sabji can be made in cooker as well as in kadhai.If made in cooker it will take less time where as in kadhai more time about 45 min to 1 hr as daal takes time to cook properly.I am going to use cooker as cooking medium.
Step 2: Heat oil in cooker and when oil is hot enough then add cumin seeds and dry whole red chilies.When cumin seeds starts crackling then add finely chopped green chilies and grated ginger.Saute it for about a minute.
Step 3: Add tomatoes and stir nicely.Now add salt,turmeric powder,red chili powder , coriander powder, garam masala and mix nicely.After about a minute add chopped bottle gourd (lauki).
Step 4: Now add soaked and washed chana daal.Add 1 cup water and mix very nicely.Now close the lid of cooker.Keep the gas in medium heat.
Step 5: After about 3-4 whistles switch off the gas but open the lid after the cooker has cooled down. Take out the sabji in a bowl and garnish with coriander leaves and serve with any bread of your choice. Enjoy !!
