Cauliflower Tawa Kebab

Hello Friends,

Today I am going to share recipe for Cauliflower Tawa Kebab which is super delicious and can be made easily. It is a very healthy snack / appetizer option. From long time I wanted to try this and as when the A to Z challenge began this month with Ingredient C to cook with, I immediately chose Cauliflower.

A to Z challenge, a challenge initiated on Facebook Group, wherein a group of bloggers come together and we choose key ingredients alphabetically to cook and post a dish every alternate month. This challenge was initiated by Jolly Makkar and I was introduced to this by my friend Vidya Narayan . We choose key ingredients alphabetically to cook and post a dish every alternate month.

A TO Z Ing logo

This is my 2nd dish in the A to Z challenge series, the first was the Broccoli and Tofu Stir Fry.  I wanted to make something on the more healthier side so chose to make this. It doesn’t take much time to prepare and it is very delicious also. I hope you all will like it.

Serving: 7-8 medium sized kebab

Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups grated cauliflower
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves
  • 3-4 green chillies finely chopped (you can adjust it according to taste)
  • 2 tbsp grated ginger and garlic
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 5 tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder ( you can adjust it according to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp tandoori masala (Everest, MDH etc any can be used)
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Oil for roasting the kebabs

Ingredients:

Cauliflower Tawa Kebab 1

Grate the cauliflower with the help of grater or food processor.

Squeeze out little water from the cauliflower with your hands and put it in the bowl. Do not take out all the water, little moisture should be there for binding the kebabs. Now microwave it for 2 minutes. if you do not want to use microwave then you can parboil the cauliflower and then grate it.

For roasting the gram flour take ghee in a pan and when it is hot enough add carom seeds in it. Saute it for few seconds.

Add gram flour and roast it till little golden brown and roasted aroma starts coming from it. It will look like the second picture given above.

Cauliflower Tawa Kebab 4

Get all the veggies ready.

Add roasted gram flour and all the chopped veggies to the grated cauliflower.

Mix it nicely. You will not need any water to bind the mixture. Moisture  in the cauliflower will be enough to bind the mixture. If you are not able to bind it then add 1 tbsp of water.

Now add salt, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, roasted cumin powder, tandoori masala, garam masala, chaat masala and lemon juice in the mixture and mix all the spices nicely. Our Kebab mixture is ready.

Now shape the kebabs in form of tikkis or in any shape of your choice. Add some oil in the pan/ tawa.  When oil is hot enough place the kebabs on it and roast it from both the sides on medium heat till they are golden brown in color.

Cauliflower Tawa Kebab

Super delicious and healthy cauliflower tawa kebabs are ready to be served. Serve it hot with coriander peanut chutney or coriander mint chutney or plain old ketchup. These are super yummy and very healthy. You can also make  sandwich with them, along with these kebabs add some onion and ketchup and toast the bread from both the sides or make a roti wrap out of it. It is a super fun way to make your kid eat veggies. You can also prepare this kebab mixture and keep it in refrigerator for 2-3 days. Do try out this friends and please let me know how you like it. Enjoy !!

I believe that avoiding ready-made foods would be the first step to lose weight. They could taste beneficial, but highly processed foods currently have very little nutritional value, making you try to eat more only to have enough vitality to get with the day. When you are constantly feeding on these foods, converting to cereals and other complex carbohydrates will aid you to have more power while having less. Good blog post.
