Servings: a medium sized bowl
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup chickpeas boiled/you can use store bought can also
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 2-3 green chilies (you can adjust it according to taste)
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds/1 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder/paprika (you can adjust it according to taste)
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- Little bit of coriander/parsley for garnishing
Procedure:
Take around 1 cup chickpeas and soak it for at least 4-5 hours then boil it with little bit of salt till it is soft and tender.Otherwise you can also use store bought can which you can use directly for making hummus.
Now to the chick peas add cumin seeds, green chillies, garlic cloves and salt.Combine all the ingredients in a blender jar and blend it to a smooth paste using water as required.
When it is blended nicely take it out in a bowl give it a taste and adjust the salt as required.Add red chilli powder/paprika and lime juice.Mix it very nicely.
Garnish it with some chopped coriander/parsley and serve it with baked nachos, chips, falafel, crackers or use it as a spread on your toast or sandwiches and enjoy this healthy hummus with your friends and family.
Traditionally olive oil is added to hummus while grinding it but I have not added and it taste good then also.If you want to add olive oil then add around 2 tbsp of olive oil while grinding the chickpeas. This is super easy and all the ingredients are almost always available in our pantry. So friends whip up this delicious hummus and let me know how you like it. Enjoy !!
